Exactly as described, I prefer the smoother ball end for massage, but I find the small bumps on the side to be just a bit too much for me.
This is a great massage tool for pressure point. It can be warmed up or cooled and is great for different massage techniques. It is rather heavy and large, I am not sure of its intended purpose but quality is very good.
